About the role

The information below covers the job requirements, the candidate’s expected experience and the corresponding qualifications.

Adecco is recruiting on behalf of one of its clients for a Heavy-Duty and Commercial Vehicle Mechanic for a long-term temporary assignment in THOUARS. You will work day shifts in a well-organized workshop, maintaining a fleet of commercial and heavy-duty vehicles with recent electronic diagnostic tools.

The client is an industrial company specializing in the processing and preservation of meat products. It has its own vehicle maintenance department to ensure business continuity and reliable deliveries.

This full-time temporary position has an initial duration of 18 months and is due to start on 3 October 2026. Pay and any benefits will be discussed during interviews, based on your experience and the company’s practices.

Responsibilities

  • Help ensure fleet availability and driver safety.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial and heavy-duty vehicles, in accordance with safety standards and internal procedures.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment and technical documentation.
  • Work on braking, suspension and hydraulic systems, as well as engine components and auxiliary equipment, ensuring reliable return to service.
  • Help track interventions and record operations in the designated tools, in coordination with your manager and the maintenance team.

Requirements

This position is for a professional looking to commit to a long-term assignment in heavy-duty vehicle mechanics in a demanding industrial environment. You enjoy teamwork while being able to manage your interventions independently, with a constant focus on safety and quality.

You have a technical diploma below the baccalaureate level or equivalent experience in industrial or commercial vehicle mechanics. Initial experience in a similar position is an asset. A category B driving licence may be an advantage for moving some vehicles around the site, but it is not a disqualifying requirement.

Personal skills

  • Demonstrate professional thoroughness and follow procedures and safety instructions.
  • Organize interventions with a good sense of priorities and communicate clearly with the team.
  • Work as part of a team while remaining autonomous, and keep calm in urgent situations.

Technical skills

  • Be proficient in heavy-duty vehicle mechanics, preventive maintenance and vehicle safety standards.
  • Use diagnostic equipment, read technical drawings and carry out reliable electronic diagnostics.
  • Work on hydraulic systems in accordance with safety procedures and quality standards.
