Job Description

About the role

As a qualified mechanic, you will work on vehicles of various makes and models. You will handle routine maintenance, diagnostics, mechanical repairs and more technical work as needs arise. Your role covers both light and heavy mechanical work: servicing, oil changes, braking, tires, running gear, clutches, timing systems, engine components, fault-finding, inspections and tests. You will work methodically, following procedures and safety instructions and meeting the deadlines communicated to customers. Your goal is to deliver reliable, clean and professional work to ensure vehicle safety and customer satisfaction.

For several decades, Alain Pneu – Point S has supported its customers with vehicle maintenance, repairs and equipment. Based in Oyonnax and Saint-Claude, the company has maintained a family spirit while developing its business in automotive mechanics, tires and customer service. At Alain Pneu – Point S, the focus is on quality work, straightforward communication and relationships of trust with customers. Every job matters: it must be completed carefully and precisely, in compliance with safety rules.

Following a retirement, the Saint-Claude location is looking for a qualified mechanic who can handle both light and heavy mechanical work. Beyond technical skills, the company is looking for someone who wants to join a team, share family values and contribute over the long term to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the necessary diagnostics to identify the cause of breakdowns or malfunctions.
  • Handle routine maintenance: oil changes, servicing, braking, tires, inspections, fluid levels, replacement of wear parts and vehicle preparation.
  • Perform more advanced mechanical work as needed, including timing systems, clutches, engine components, running gear, fault-finding and technical repairs.
  • Carry out vehicle tests to check the quality of completed work.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the workshop by keeping it tidy, respecting the tools, maintaining your workstation, reporting information and communicating with the team.

Requirements

  • Alain Pneu – Point S is looking for an experienced person who can work independently on a variety of automotive mechanical tasks.
  • Ideally, you have experience in a garage, auto centre or multi-brand workshop.
  • You are comfortable with both routine maintenance and more technical work.
  • You can locate faults, understand a diagnosis, replace the necessary parts and check the quality of your work.
  • You are thorough, organized and attentive to detail.
  • You take pride in quality work and can follow instructions, deadlines and safety rules.
  • Team spirit is important for this role. You will join a workplace where mutual support, communication and a good atmosphere are important.
  • You have a sense of customer service: even when working in the workshop, your work directly contributes to the trust customers place in the company.
  • A Category B driving licence is required for vehicle tests and any travel related to the role.
  • Training in automotive mechanics is an asset, but experience, independence and the ability to perform the role will be decisive.
