Qualified Mechanic

About the role

As a qualified mechanic, you work on vehicles of various makes and models. You handle routine maintenance, diagnostics, mechanical repairs and more technical work as needed. Your role covers both minor and major mechanical work: servicing, oil changes, braking, tires, running gear, clutches, timing systems, engine components, fault-finding, inspections and tests. You work methodically, following procedures and safety instructions and meeting the deadlines communicated to customers. Your goal is to carry out reliable, clean and professional work to ensure vehicle safety and customer satisfaction.

Based in Oyonnax and Saint-Claude, the company has maintained a family spirit while developing its business in automotive mechanics, tires and customer service. Due to a retirement, the Saint-Claude establishment is looking for a Qualified Mechanic H/F who can work on both minor and major mechanical jobs. Responsibilities

• Carry out the diagnostics needed to identify the source of breakdowns or malfunctions.
• Handle routine maintenance operations: oil changes, servicing, braking, tires, inspections, fluid levels, replacement of wear parts and vehicle preparation.
• Also work on more advanced mechanical jobs as needed, including timing systems, clutches, engine components, running gear, fault-finding and technical repairs.
• Carry out vehicle tests to check the quality of completed work.
• Contribute to the smooth running of the workshop by keeping it tidy, taking care of tools, maintaining your workstation, reporting information and communicating with the team.

Requirements

• Alain Pneu – Point S is looking for an experienced person who can work independently on a range of automotive mechanical jobs.
• Ideally, you have experience in a garage, automotive service centre or multi-brand workshop.
• You are comfortable with both routine maintenance and more technical work.
• You can locate faults, understand a diagnosis, replace the necessary parts and check the quality of your work.
• You are rigorous, organized and attentive to detail.
• You value doing a good job and can follow instructions, meet deadlines and comply with safety rules.
• Team spirit is important for this position. You will join an establishment where mutual support, communication and a good atmosphere are important.
• You have a sense of customer service: even when working in the workshop, your work directly contributes to the trust customers place in the company.
• A Class B driving licence is required for vehicle tests and any travel related to the position.
• Training in automotive mechanics is an asset, but experience, independence and the ability to perform the role will be decisive.
