Heavy Vehicle and Machinery Mechanic (M/F)

Job Description

You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles, public works machinery, urban cleaning vehicles, and agricultural equipment at the workshop located at Cotonnière site or directly on the sites of the Caen la mer urban community. You'll work on hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems and circuits, detect and diagnose malfunctions, and identify defective spare parts. You'll participate in organizing and maintaining the workshop.

Candidate Profile

You should hold a CAP / BEP or BAC Pro focused on repair, heavy vehicles, agricultural equipment, or public works, or have significant professional experience in this field. Strong knowledge in mechanics, repair techniques, and standards is essential. You keep up with evolving technologies (engine injection, hydraulics, electricity) on all types of vehicles/machinery. You respect hygiene and safety regulations, are rigorous, organized, methodical, and able to communicate efficiently with clients and management. Driving license B required; C/E preferred.

Working Conditions

Possibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in case of emergency or severe weather conditions. On-call duties may be necessary. Work involves handling loads over 20kg and working in dusty, noisy, and sometimes odorous environments.

About the Employer

The Equipment Fleet Service manages and maintains the vehicle and rolling equipment fleets for Caen la mer urban community, the city of Caen, and the CCAS. Under the team leader's authority, the mechanic handles repairs for heavy vehicles, agricultural machinery, public works equipment, and urban cleaning machinery for the three municipal entities and oversees external services.
